So after stopping chemotherapy due to low blood values, we demanded a second surgery. Surgery is the only cure for intraheptic cholangiocarcinoma. The surgery was a success but we still had the lung nodules to deal with. The doctors scheduled radiation therapy to treat those.
One month later we get great news. They did not find any cancer on the liver, just some scar tissue. The lung nodules were successfully treated. We start to feel a glimmer of hope and freedom. Covid restrictions are lifting and we start to feel optimistic again.
My husband had two liver resection surgeries in one year and had just 4 rounds of gem/cis. We felt like we were the luckiest people on the planet. The year 2021 is going to be a great year.
