This chemo sucks (13)

Now it’s the end of the 5FU chemotherapy and it did not work like we hoped. The doctors said that it had ok affect but nothing really changed. The cancer did not grow but it did not shrink either plus my husband lost all of his hair. The wig did its job at concealing this fact but at home when the wig was off, it just reminded us all that he was sick.

It was time for summer and my husbands body needed time to heal from the effects of chemo. It’s funny how the thing that might prolong your life also takes it’s toll on the body.

We were afraid that during this pause in treatment that the cancer was going to grow but we tried not to think about it. We distracted ourselves with summer vacations and family gatherings. We even threw a huge party to celebrate my birthday.

My husbands hair grew back. It was crazy seeing peoples reaction at his “new super short hair cut”. My husband explained that it was so hot, that a new hair cut seemed like a great idea. People probably thought it might be a midlife crisis thing. As his hair grew back this summer so did his cancer. Hence why I hate that we tried 5FU. We should of stuck with Gem/cis. At least with Gem/cis his cancer disappeared from scans for six months.
